Jason Selby

Born just four days after the 1994 Northridge earthquake—and literally in the middle of an aftershock—it’s no wonder Jason Selby knows how to shake things up. Runway Payments embodies that boundless energy: when you forge the right relationships, build a top-tier team, and outwork anyone in your path (while enjoying the ride), there’s no limit to where you can land.

After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2016 (Go Ducks!), Jason launched a career with an influential Washington D.C. lobbying group while advising his brother’s mobile music startup—ultimately acquired by a major publishing and royalties team behind icons like The Beatles and Styx. In 2019, he traveled the globe and took a mentor’s advice to seek a “disaster-proof” industry.

By the time global challenges hit in early 2020, Jason was already working for a rising payments company in Los Angeles, which paved the way for his December 2021 move to Maverick Payments, the nation’s leading high-risk processor/acquirer.

Serving as Head of Business Development, Jason spearheaded new agent and partnership strategies, helping the company to earn Inc. 5000 recognition in 2022 and 2023 as the fastest-growing privately held payment processor in the U.S. Capitalizing on Maverick’s robust technology and money movement capabilities, he built relationships with major sales organizations, vertical-focused software platforms, consultants, acquiring banks, and even competing processors—creating a dynamic, innovative ecosystem.

When he’s not immersed in merchant onboarding for regulated sectors or explaining the nuances of money flow, Jason’s likely on the golf course with friends. He also loves cruising the California coast in his Jeep—top down—and hasn’t missed a UFC fight in years.

Jason proudly credits his adventurous spirit to his mother, a travel agent who sparked his love for seeing the world. Her positivity and boundary-pushing attitude are woven into Runway Payments’ DNA, igniting a culture of collaboration, growth, and limitless horizons.
